Acrylic and Alcohol Ink Painting
Nancy Ness combines her lifelong passions into her artistry.
She was born and raised in Minot, North Dakota. She travelled to the Pacific Northwest for a number of years and attended cosmetology school in Seattle, Washington. Ness worked as an independent hair stylist and make-up artist and relocated to Fargo in 2007. After meeting her husband and having two children, Nancy took a step back from the beauty industry to spend more time with her family. Being at home gave Ness an opportunity to delve deeper into painting, one of her lifelong passions.
After having successes at art sales, Ness began painting commissions for art collectors from all over the country. She is now excited to display her artwork at Gallery 4. Ness describes her style as contemporary abstract with a little glitz, she loves to use pink and gold, and names her paintings after people in her life. Ness uses mainly heavy bodied acrylics and her trusty palette knife. She also enjoys exploring with alcohol inks and metal leafing can commonly be found in her work.
Ness likes to spend her free time painting, often alongside her children, going to the lake in the summer months and volunteering for the American Cancer Society as an educator for the Look Good Feel Better Program.
